My immediate family were all born in Glasgow, Scotland between the early 1960s and early 1970s. A family of 5 children. My father , also John was born in Glasgow of an Irish father Hugh McGeever, who lived in the family farmstead in Derryconor, Gort an choirce, County Donegal.

I have one older sister, Loraine and a younger sister Annemarie as well as two brothers Charles and Paul. I myself, only having two daughters, Alice and Isabel.

The annual trips as a child to Donegal stopped once I reached teenage but have been resumed in the last 3 years. this has stimulated my interest in looking into the heritage of my family and hence the search begins with the setting up of this website.

I was always aware of the other McGeevers in my hometown of Glasgow, but if my father was unable to tell me how we were related, I was always told that there were two branches of McGeevers. This always intrigued me and it has been an ambition of mine to do a genealogy project.

Having been a member of the St. Francis Pipe Band in the Gorbals, Glasgow (www.saintfrancispipeband.com), and the 170th. St. Francis Scout Troop, I know that there are a lot of resources out there but pieces of the puzzle I don't yet know.
